Hello World

Currently in:  San Francisco
Next Stop: London

I am a wanderer, lover, doer and dreamer.

I have always been a wanderer, lover of food and soul. I set out to explore other parts of me.. I feel that you grow every time you travel and become less bound by convention, just experiencing, doing, acting, being apart of and an explorer of presence. In my travels I traversed six continents (which I try get to each year) and over 35 countries, many that I have been to more then once. Some countries I will go back to in a heart beat, others left profound experiences and changed me for life.

My motto is travel to live, with a lust for being one with the culture of the places I choose to visit. Hang out with the locals, eat their food, share their language. Sometimes I like to theme my travels with exploring work, experiences, moving my body or enriching my soul. I'm drawn to impressive landscapes, and phenomena (grand canyon, northern lights) and have a healthy obsession with waterfalls.

I live at the forefront of the mobility movement focusing time and attention to the wave of technological independence that is sweeping the world and helping people achieve this for themselves. I'm particularly fascinated by developing countries skipping technology generations and what this means for how we live in the future.

The magic of Iguazu Falls

The roar of the water grows louder and louder the closer you get to the falls. The cicadas, butterflies and other small bugs that occupy the lush subtropical jungle slowly get drowned out as you approach. Nothing quite prepares you for this mother nature creation that is the Iguazu Falls. The water cascading over the rocks and many cliff faces is her display of brut force and raw power. When I first saw Garganta del Diablo or ‘Devils Throat’ I was mesmerised. It’s like an optical illusion my eyes certainly did some adjusting.

The Grand Canyon, Arizona

You sit on cliff faces, look down, look out forever and ever, see different types of rock. To me it felt impossible to understand or concept how this even happened, how this formation even begins to exist. It’s super hot, 38 degrees up to and when you hike a couple miles into the Canyon it gets to about 43 degrees. One of my favourite parts of the day was hiking down about 2 miles into the Canyon, quite a steep decent and the path is pretty much sand and dirt so super slippery.

Round the World 2014: Sanur, Bali

Flower Markets, Tet New Year, Hanoi, Vietnam

Sanur compared with Legian is like your hip, cool sleepy beach and fishing town. It’s on the coast, it’s quiet, not as many tourists a lot more chill. it’s a coast of beaches (they aren’t like the eastern beaches in Bali but there is still nice granule like sand, warm turquoise water and sun. Lots of sun. An added bonus is that you get to watch all of the men fish all day in waist high water with there little straw triangle hats on.
One of the best parts of being in Vietnam for the Tet New Year was being able to go to the flower markets! Flowers are huge in Vietnam to bring in the new year, Tet is about gathering family, and clearing out the old year to make the new year one of good fortune. It was the most flowers I have ever seen, haha my homestay said – no matter the girl, no matter the nationality they still like the same things, frozen yoghurt and flowers (haha I asked him to take me to frozen yoghurt for desert!)
